The antimicrobial activity of Ganoderma compounds might be affected by the cultivation substrate. The fruiting body of G. sichuanense cultivated from the potential substrates needs to be evaluated. This study aimed to compare the antimicrobial activity of G. sichuanense extract and detect the antimicrobial compounds. The culture of G. sichuanense was cultivated in various lignocellulosic substrates. The antimicrobial assay was examined against B. subtilis and enteropathogenic E. coli (EPEC). The crude extract was fractionated using thin layer chromatography, and then the antimicrobial compounds were detected with bioautography. Based on the growth phase, biomass, biological efficiency, and numbers of basidioma, the substrate that is suitable for producing the fruiting bodies of G. sichuanense and results in a great antimicrobial activity is wood sawdust (WS). The inhibition zones of extract treatments are ranging from 2.90 to 3.93 mm for B. subtilis and from 3.17 to 4.52 mm for EPEC. The detection of G. sichuanense WS extract using the bioautographic method showed two inhibition zones with retention factor (Rf) of 0.51 and 0.63. Both fractions were fluorescent at 366 nm with maximum absorbance at 252 nm. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.
