Tristeza, caused by citrus tristeza virus (CTV) and huanglongbing, caused by Candidatus Liberibacter asiaticus (CLas) are the main diseases of citrus in Indonesia. Symptomatic leaves, including chlorotic spots, leaf cupping, and vein clearing from 10 citrus types, were collected from citrus nurseries in Bogor and processed for further molecular detection. Specific RT-PCR for CTV using RBP23F/RBP23R primers successfully detected 11 among 13 tested samples, without detecting CLas. CTV Bogor isolates shared 94–96% identity with others in the GenBank. Phylogenetic tree relationship fell three isolates (DB, KB, and PB1) in one group and one isolate (Santang B) clustered together with another Indonesian and Japanese (LC804811.1 and AB046398.1). This study showed the presence and dominance of CTV in nurseries and the importance of using specific molecular detection for disease monitoring and screening in nurseries, particularly in providing healthy plant material. © Indian Phytopathological Society 2026.
