Bandar Lampung City, the capital of Lampung Province, is crossed by the Lampung –Panjang and Menanga faults. The fault activity is characterized by its seismicity in the Bandar Lampung City area from 1930 to 2024, spread across Tarahan, Padang Cermin, east of Mount Pesawaran, and the Lampung Bay area. Based on that history, Bandar Lampung city is prone to earthquake hazards, and an attempt to identify faults using the gravity data analysis is required. This study uses open-access gravity (61472 points), the topography of the Bandar Lampung City area and its surroundings (185 ha), in addition to the seismicity data (recorded by BMKG & USGS stations). The data analysis includes spectrum analysis, gradient analysis, and inversion modeling. The range of gravity anomalies of Bandar Lampung and its surrounding areas is between 40 and 120 mgal, with low anomalies in the middle extending from southeast to northwest, while high anomalies are located in the southwest and east. Based on the gradient analysis and inversion modeling results, the Lampung–Panjang fault is characterized as a reverse fault. In the west, the Menanga fault starts from Lampung Bay towards the northwest, passing through the area between Mount Pesawaran and Mount Betung, continuing to a depth of 5 km. The seismic activity in the study area is correlated with the presence of a major fault in Lampung Bay and surrounding areas, as well as with their faults activity. The faults around Lampung Bay, particularly the Lampung-Lenggang fault in Bandar Lampung City, warrant vigilance due to their potential to trigger earthquakes and damage public facilities. © 2026, Union of Iraqi Geologists.
