Abstract

A numerical model for granular flow on an inclined plane is developed to simulate debris avalanche. The mathematical model for granular flow is derived under the fluid-like assumption and by depth integrating the model so that it gives a shallow water-type equation. The equation is solved numerically by using a second-order accurate predictor-corrector method on a staggered grid. The numerical result is validated by using an analytical solution for a wet-dry case. The numerical method is able to give a relatively accurate solution. © 2023 Author(s).
