The Study of the Altering Substrate Refractive Index on Single Symmetry Split-Ring Resonator Unit Cell Metamaterial

Abstract

This study employed single symmetry split-ring resonator (SRR) to implement biosensor applications. The behavior of the applied mechanism was observed comprehensively by altering the substrate refractive index. Also, numerical functions were evaluated using CST microwave studio, while the Maxwell’s equation was resolved by finite integration technique (FIT). Furthermore, impedance of SRR metamaterial tends to reduce by increasing the refractive index for both the substrate and initial substance. These conditions consequently influenced the permittivity and the permeability. However, permittivity was presented with a significant modification for separate refractive index values, but was not the case for permeability. Meanwhile, both properties obtained varying amplitudes under distinct refracted conditions. © 2021, The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature.
